FIRST HIGHSCHOOLS IN THE U.S. TO INSTALL ECOPOSTE

The Franklin County Career & Technology Center along with The Chambersburg Area Career Magnet School became the first High Schools in the United States to install Ecoposte signposts on their campuses.

For decades, the two choices for traditional signposts were either wooden posts made from trees or metal signposts made through strip mining iron ore to make steel. Both of these traditional processes are harsh on our planet. To manufacture wooden posts, trees are cut down then soaked with toxins under a vacuum to create pressure treated posts. Of note, over the last 20 years, the US has lost 17% of its trees.
To manufacture metal signposts, the trees, topsoil, and subsoil are all eradicated during the strip-mining process to get iron ore for steel production. Additionally, to make one ton of steel, 61,000 gallons of water is required.
However, EcoPoste has realized a new third-option for post production that is innovative, durable, and economically viable, while being friendly to our environment. EcoPoste is made from 100% recycled plastic.

Globally, the world produces 400 million tons of plastic annually and 5% of that ends up in our oceans. Choosing EcoPoste keeps our oceans, lakes, rivers, and streams cleaner, and will relieve the demand on our landfills.
By choosing EcoPoste, our steel and lumber industry can be used for building bridges, schools, and houses, etc. and recycled plastics can be better utilized.
On top of being eco-friendly, these posts have the safest passive safety performance record on the market.

First Golf Course Install of EcoPoste

The Rockingham Golf Course (“The Rock”) in Newmarket NH was established in 1933 and is now the first golf course in the US to install EcoPoste signposts. Dave Wade is the long-time superintendent of the country club and was beyond happy about replacing the pressure treated signposts with EcoPoste signposts, which in his words will “Outlive all of us.” Not only that but he also thinks they’re an attractive change from the traditional signpost options.
